bugs, grubs, worms
Silkworm eggs are arriving today. I actually bought these for spinning, as a replacement for a long held beloved culture that died out suddenly a few years ago. Well, the info on line has improved considerably, and that's thanks to herpers using these animals as feeders. So, they need to be kept warm, which I wasn't aware of before, One site suggest a Hovabator egg incubator. I was ready to push the "buy" button, but the most recent Amazon reviews are pretty bad. Looks like the quality has tanked. So, I'll just set them up in an insulated tub with the usual heat pad and t-stat.
Which makes me think....my meal worm colony would be progressing better if it was warmer, and the only reason I haven't gotten into dubia roaches is that they need warmth too. Also, I recall one how-to video out there where the meal worm keeper simply kept the tub in what looks like an unused AP enclosure.
Just sort of wondering if board members had any efficient (possibly multi-species) somewhat-built-to-purpose bug/grub set-ups out there.
