Where should I place the probe?
Hi Everyone,
So I have two heat sources for my enclosure.
I have a heat mat plug in to a tstat (The tstat set to 96 but inside it measure on 89 because it's outside of the cage).
The second heat source which I will get today is CHE which I will also like to plug to a tstat.
But the question is, where should I place the probe of the tstat?
And also, I read that some people use lamp dimmer, How do I use this? In combine with timer/tstat?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you!

Re: Where should I place the probe?
Id place 1 probe in a cool side hide and the other in the warm side hide.
The tstat goes into the wall, dimmer goes into the tstat and the dome goes into the dimmer

Thermostat probes or any UTH should never go into an enclosure.

The CHE, I would run it of a dimmer but using a thermostat I would have the probe a couple inches off of the ground on the back wall on the same side you have the CHE over.

Thank you,
So If I have a heat mat and a CHE I need to have 2 tstats and 2 thermometers (one to measure the hot and cool side and another one to measure under the substrate)?
Heat mat- Tstat.
CHE- Tstat.
One probe under the UTH, one probe under the substrate, one probe above the substrate in the hot side and one probe in the cold side?
Did I get it right?
Is there an easy way to do it?
Thank you

Temperture gun instead of thermometers......
You either need 2 thermostats or 1 dual zone thermostat.

Ok and here is another general question.
What will happen if suddenly the tstat will fail and stop working?
I assume that the cage will get really hot but won't the snake can just move to the cool side till the problem will get fixed?
What am I missing?
Because I see that everyone recommend to use tstat which I use but what happen without it?
Thanks again

Some fail off and most fail on. What thermostat are you using?
No, they will not always move.
