    Re: Humidity

your setup has alot to do with humidity. basically more venting=less humidity and less venting =more humidity. you can experiment with the venting, mist the tank/cage more, add a larger water bowl. heat sources like bulbs and ceramic heat emitters really dry out the air too.

    Re: Humidity

What type of enclosure are you using?

Aquarium with screen top? If so you can cover part of the top with a towel or whatever. Larger water bowl, place wet paper towels on top of hides and change daily. Mist a small area of the tank. As long as it is between 50 and 60 percent you should be good.

You can also make a humid hide for the enclosure.

    Re: Humidity

It is always best to get your enclosure set up a few days before you get your snake. That way you have time to get all of your enviromental issues worked out ahead of time and your snake is immediately being put into a perfect environment.

As far as enclosures go, I am a big fan of Boaphiles. Animal Platics are real good as well. Those two are my personal favorites for cages and what I would recommend. Vision Cages are nice too.

Now with that being said, you may not want to spend that much money on one. They also take 4 to 6 weeks to ship after ordering. So your stuck with either aquariums or plastic tubs like Rubbermaid or Sterilite since your snake will be here within a week.

    Re: Humidity

Well the reason im not setting up cage up is because my girl friend is buying the snake for me as a "suprise" because my parents wont let me buy one. So she is going to buy it as a gift

    Re: Humidity

well u still need and should have the inclosure up and running at least 4 or 5 days before u get the snake. that way u can make sure u will have the right temps/humidity. if u cant, well i sudjest you purchase the snake but leave it were it is for the next week untill u get everything setup. dont get offer anxious. your snake will be stressed out enough when u bring it home, so the last thing it needs is to not have the right invironment it is used to. If it does have what it needs, your snake will settle in faster, and then when u introduce its first meal u wont be wondering why it isnt eatting. good luck

    Oh brother!
I recommend that you spend about 3 hrs online reading all the research and care sheets possible on Captive ball Python care.

3 hours? I wish I could have done all the research I've done in 3 hours. But part of it is it's just so fascinating, I'm like a 3 yr old sponging up all the info I can. I feel like Johnny 5 in Short Circuit. I just keep saying "INPUT, INPUT!!!"
