I wouldn't even buy a tank...they can be expensive, their a pain to clean, and very hard to maintaine proper humidity/temp levals.

Go with a clear rubber maid tub, you can get a huge one for around $20 that will be more then enough for life. You can make those clear tubs look pretty good to so don't worry about that.

A 20 long will probably be a little too small for an adult ball python.

A 40 long or 40 gallon "breeder" tank is perfect if your going to use a glass tank.

If you don't have it already, get yourself a copy of "The Ball Python Manual" .... it's available on in book stores and on Amazon.com for under $10 and had all the information you need to taking care of your snake.

    Adam,

Amazon must be out of it or something, because when I first ordered it (when I got Kashmire), the ship date was going to be a week later. Then I got an e-mail that it was going to be delayed until late August. I'm patiently waiting and haven't been able to find it in bookstores yet.

I'm waiting for the two new books you were telling me about to come out too! Of course, I can't remember the authors' names now! I know that one is a co-author on The Ball Python Manual.

One thing about owning a ball is learning the subtle art of patience! LOL

well, the title sure got my attention, but don't become the boy who cried wolf. Not exactly "Urgent."

Read all you can. I've got less than $50 into a fabulous sterlite setup w/ heat, thermometer, hygrometer - the whole deal. And with sterlite/rubbermaid, you'll find managing humidity is a breeze.

    Re: urgent

BarnesAndNoble.com has it available and you even have the option of having it shipped to a local store for free I think?

Thanks Adam! When I get back, I'll cancel the Amazon order (they won't charge my card until it ships) and place it with BarnesandNoble.com instead!

10 more hours and I get to see Kashmire!!!!!

    Re: urgent

Yep us too Ken. I think our big Sterlite's were a whopping $11.00 at Wal-Mart LOL and with the addition of a soldering wand for about $9.00 we can put as many holes in it as our little hearts desire. The rest of our set-up was maybe $25.00 for the Accu-Rite, a couple of pot bottom hides and a heavy low dish for water. We use either paper towels or newspaper and that's either cheap or outright free. If it weren't for this forum, we'd have spent a fortune I think.
