How to sex a ball python...

I've been reading a lot on the "popping method" and I was wondering if this is something that's fairly easy to do, or if it takes practice? And could it hurt the snake somehow? I've wanted to try it, but I definitely don't feel comfortable doing it myself for the first time without having seen it done in person... So am I better off just taking my little one to a reputable herp vet and leaving this one to the professionals?

It's easy but takes practice and while videos give you a good idea being taught by someone is better it give you a better idea the pressure that needs to be applied.

If the herp vet is really a herp vet n someone that just tell you that yes they will see your reptile they should be able to sex it for you.

Personally rather than pay for a useless vet visit I would rather find someone local that has experience because it not a bad thing to learn.

Don't attempt to sex your snake unless someone who knows how to do it teaches you.

I've had zero luck learning to pop, but I was taught to probe and I can do it very well now. I think my video is still stickied here..

Thank you yet again! Lol. That's exactly what I meant. I've watched videos but I still don't feel comfortable enough trying it myself without at least having seen someone show me in person.

Thank you! That's what I was thinking. I have never seen it done first hand although I've watch quite a few videos and read a lot about it, I still don't feel comfortable trying it myself as I don't want to hurt my little one.

I think I'll definitely look around for someone local who is experiencing in sexing BPs.
