Has anyone else ever kept Rubber Boas ?

I was just thinking about which of the snakes I've had were my favorites, and it made me think about my Rubber Boas and how I never hear anything about them.

They were quite fun little snakes and perfect to help people over come their fear. They will not bite to defend themselves. They do musk though, if in fear for their live. Mine never did.
So funny that we have a little Boa Constrictor here in the US, although they sure don't look like one

I never have. I spent a LOT of time in the woods when I lived in Oregon and never saw one. Interesting little snakes...

They are! They do feel like rubber, too!

I have yet to keep them, breeders for them are few and far between. But I have always been interested and studied up on them quite a bit. Found one a few years back while rafting in ID, awesome creatures

I would LOVE to find a cool snake such as that in the wild !! Even if just to look at it.

All I've ever seen in the wild here are 2 rough green snakes (took one from the barn cat and released it), 2 oak snakes which are beautiful, 3 baby eastern diamond backs, 2 copperheads and one cotton mouth.

The rosy boa is in North America. AFIK, the rubber boa is only Africa and India. My rosy is longer and thinner, the rubber boas are more stumpy, with almost no taper to the tail.

Love my rosy (she is gorgeous), but definitely not one I'd just hand over to someone to hold. She likes to *taste* hands and arms.

I almost bought one but went with a checkered garter snake instead. They are interesting boas but I've grown to dislike their colors. Some live natively near me, but I have never seen one.

(more hurried reading)...I was getting the rubber boa mixed up with the Kenyan sand boa.

Anyway, looks like a rewarding snake to keep.
Now, I want one.
