Just checking to make sure
I am thinking that Loki is going into a shed. Figured I would tell yall what I am seeing and make sure. You know the obsessive/compulsive thing...lol
Anyway, I went in and picked him up thisevening for the first time since I got him. He seemed very shy right off of the bat and I figured that was probably normal. He relaxed a bit after some stroking of his body befoer I picked him up. While I was holding him I noticed that the tip of his nose seems almost a bluish color, and his overall color has faded a bit. His eyes were also dry looking and a bit cloudy. I could see some pink under his belly, but not too much.
I guess this probably explains his chilling in the hide so much these days? I put in a humid hide with wet paper towels. Also my humidity is holding at 55%. Any other suggestions. I do not have enough room in his aquarium for anything else, so I suppose the ceramic hide shal have to do for the rough thing. Am I forgetting anything. SHould I crank up the heat or lower it? I think I have everything, but wanting to make sure.
Thanks Alot

keep your temps the same (80cool 90warm) and bump the humidity up to 60-70%

Re: Just checking to make sure
I have already started periodic misting to elivate the humidity along with the humid hide. I think I have it to where it will stay around 64% or so except for when I mist then it climbs to around 75% and slowly creeps back down. I noticed him rubbing his nose on the edge of his hide a bit ago, Can't wait for the fresh new Loki.
I have got to take a pic of him before long, he really is a beautyfull snake.
Thanks all

Re: Just checking to make sure
Well now, I rearanged things in Loki's tank today, to give him a bit more structure, as well as assist in keeping the humidity up. This evening, he had to come out and check to see if I left him an escape route... Funny Funny snake.
ANd by the way, I did pick him up for just a moment, I couldn't help it. I was changing his water and he came out to see me and literally climbed into my hand. Once he realized who or rather what I was he became a bit tence for a moment and I only held him for a moment or two before putting him back. Anyway the point I am making is his eyes are turning blue. A shed is on the way.
Now today is Saturday p.m. should I offer him food on Tuesday like usual, and just give him the choice, or should I just hold off untill he sheds? I am going to stop handeling him at this point, I am sure it don't help matters that he can't see that well right now.
So offer food on Tuesday or No food on Tuesday? ANYONE<<<<<?

You might want to hold off until after he sheds. Some will feed while in shed, and some won't.
I don't feed when they're in shed. Some of my snakes will take it. However, after having one of my snakes in shed once latch on to the rubber tongs instead of the mouse, I prefer not to feed when they're in shed (didn't realize she was in the milky eyes stage until after she'd grabbed on. It was my colubrid, not one of the balls.)

Re: Just checking to make sure
We offer during shed. If they take it, they take it, if they don't, they don't. We don't fret if they don't (thanks Adam for that advice LOL).

It's whatever you are most comfortable with. Either way will be fine. I sometimes will and sometimes won't. I usually take my cues from the girls. If they look hungry I feed, if not I don't.

Re: Just checking to make sure
I may go ahead and try a feed tomarrow, Loki is moving around a good bit and I think he is hunting. My little one seems hungry. I may even try a second hopper for him. I was not sure but I felt as if he was still hungry last week with just one hopper. I guess if he wants it he will eat it. If not, I get to have a pet hopper for a week or so....lol
Thanks all
