    HELP on treating mites

I have mites and i have treated the enclosures with callington mite spray but surely there would be mites roaming outside the enclosures too. if so how do i kill them do i spray the mite spray around the snake room and is it safe around other pets as well such as dogs and parrots?

    Re: HELP on treating mites

Sorry to hear you are dealing with mites. I am not familiar with the Callington formula for mites. But most others Proventamite, and Nix are permethrin containing poisons that should firstly be used with caution overall and certainly not in the presence of other pets.
Stay in peace and not pieces.

    Re: HELP on treating mites

Callington is something we use in the EU nearly the same as pam but it is also safe to spray on the snake as well so i was guessing it would be safe for my other pets but i wanted to hear what other people thought but thank you for replying.

    Re: HELP on treating mites

Unsure if it affects parrots or dogs, but it does affect cats. I've heard of people using front line spray regarding outside the vivarium or a layer of vaseline. Just wanted to add that callington has worked miracles on ours, we tried no more mites but it done literally nothing, few days of using callington I haven't seen a single live mite (my poor guy was crawling with them ) and hoping we've washed away most of the eggs.

My vivs are in the room me and my dog is in but hasn't seemed to affect him in the slightest. I wouldn't spray while he's in the room though.

Glad to hear that callington works and sorry about what your snake was going through mites are horrible to deal with due to the experience i have with them now lol. But i guess i should just contact the company and ask or maybe there is another product anyone knows that i could use to spray around the snake room or maybe i could just spray the callington around the room and remove the parrot and dog for a good hour or 2.

I tried looking for the in depth post regarding spraying outside the cage to help stop them spreading but couldn't find it again . I did however find this ..
PESTICIDE - Spray the shelf and floor around the cage with Pro-vent-a-Mite or Frontline spray to kill mites in the environment. Be sure to keep the room well-ventilated so the fumes do not affect you or your reptiles.

Not sure if links are allowed but a quick Google should give you some more information. Hopefully if you contact them they can give you some help. I hope it works for you like it did me

What I do is every couple months I wipe down the outside of all my cages with Provent-A-Mite and tables and table legs as well as the top rim and bottom rim of glass quarantine tanks. That way if 1 snake somehow gets mites.....like my poor Luna, then it doesn't spread to the others.
