Flooded tank while trying to keep humidity

I have a big tank for my hatchling spider BP it's a 20G. glass terrarium. So keepeng heat and humidity is an obvious issue.

I am using a zoomed monsoon and waiting for an ultrasonic mist generator. To keep a steady 60% humidity I must set the monsoon to spray too much water and ends up soaking everything because it won't evaporate fast enough.

To heat the warm side I use a 75W UVA bulb with an UTH heat mat on a dimmer and on the cold side a 35W UVB bulb

After giving it a thought I came up with the idea of pre heating the water on the monsoon tank with a heat mat or the the suplying tubes on the way to the nozzle with a heat cable. I figured out that would help the watter evaporate faster and keep the humidity high, the same time I keep the substrate dry or relatively dry.

Has anyone tryyed this before? how did you do it? it worked?

Anyone had a similar problem? how did you solved it?

    I appreciate any coment, cheers!

    Hi,

Have you tried covering parts of the lid to control humidity without using the monsoon thing? A damp or wet substrate can lead to scale rot and fungal and other growth in the tank.

I read the article, for now I'm trying to cover it with a shirt, with no changes, these days I'm sacrificing a relative low humidity to keep the substrate dry.

On Monday I have a little spare time and I will instal some foil on the top as instructed on the article.

I'll post some fotos and how the humidity is going.

    Thanks for the info!

Re: Flooded tank while trying to keep humidity

Well today I finally got the time and installed the foil on the top along with a couple other minor modifications to Kieras viv.

I also put a new bowl of water with a hiding spot, now she has two bowls and 3 places to hide.

It is amazing how fast the humidity went sky high!!! And I thought the hygrometer was defective because it didn't raised. Now it won't come down from 65% no matter what LOL. Little things have great impact.

My only question would radder be: is that opening big enough? or should I open something else so that a little bit of air can flow?

    Thanks for the help everyone!

Your main issue here is that your Hygrometer is VERY unreliable therefore your humidity could be off one way or another, before addressing anything else you should address that and purchase a digital hygrometer same for the thermometer.

Yes sorry for that, I am waiting for my Digital Aquatics, Herpkeeper Pro Net version to arrive. That's why I don't wanna spend some more money on a digital therm/hygro.
