Temperature probe

Hey guys, anyone using a temperature probe (not tstat) on their heat-tape that can tell me the brand/link? So far I only found acurite off amazon including also humidity. I was told there is a simple thermo probe at HD or Lowes but dont see it listed anywhere.

Just saw that this went unanswered. I can't think of a reason to put a thermometer on the heat tape. The thermostat probe will tell us the temp of the tape itself. The temp we are interested in is the floor of the enclosure, so that's where we want to put the thermometer probe.

Is there a reason you want to measure the tape itself?

I got via amazon an acurite humidity/temp with probe and put the probe on the heat tape. I figure if I put the probe in the tub it can get water damage. From what you're saying, I should put the temp probe on the enclosure floor which is not running heat -tape? My logic was, hey others are doing this in case the tstat probe fails or gets dislodged.

You'd secure (not with tape) the probe for the Accurite on the floor directly above where the heat tape is. That'll give you the temperature of the warmest spot your BP can get to. That probe is intended for outside use, so the moisture shouldn't bother it. For the "in case the tstat fails" thought, having the probe on the inside of the enclosure will tell you the same thing.

Personally, my recommendation is to pick up a non-contact infrared thermometer instead of the AcuRite. That way you don't have to think about probes at all and you're free to check the temperature as often and wherever you'd like to.
