Talking I ended up with a precious BP by accident and it was hilarious/ridiculous/pure drama

My fiance recently took me to a reptile expo to admire the animals and chat up the reptile community folks (and hopefully pet a few animals). After repeatedly telling me, "You are NOT coming home with anything," he walked in the door ahead of me and immediately started checking out the silent auction table. I think he was trying to be nice about my love for snakes while also trying to lose the auction, so he placed a $35 bid on a "big" beautiful 11-egg-layer normal girl.
Fast forward 20 minutes, he found out he won and went nearly silent for the rest of the event. After the expo, we went to pick up her supplies, and his silence turned to dread. "Why did I do this" on repeat, that kind of thing.
It got about 20x worse when we got home. I set up and decorated her enclosure. I gave her time to settle and admired her from afar. At this point, I noticed that my fiance was avoiding the living room (hiding out with my cat, as it turns out). I took her out after a while and tried to introduce them, and he straight up panicked. The next two days, he dreaded coming home and continued to to avoid the living room.
I sadly offered to rehome my new friend, who I had named Bonnie, and was told to figure out what I thought was best and that 4' was too much snake. I asked him if a baby would work and he reluctantly said yes because "at least it will know him when it's 4 feet." Within a day, I found a guy an hour away who was going to trade me a baby normal for her, but when he sent me a photo of his babies and I freaked out about how precious the pastel in the corner was, the guy said she was all mine if I was that excited.
I drove down the same night. I now have a scaly friend back in my life, I get photo updates of my buddy Bonnie, and my man can absolutely fell in love with her after a couple days (the cat still feels betrayed, I'm pretty sure). I'm super stoked!

Here is Ouroboros (Ory for short), my new weirdly acquired friend!

As I was reading the first part, I was wondering why the ball in the photo wasn't a huge normal LOL. What a funny story and congrats!! Was your husband just afraid of the size of the adult ball python, or something else?

His only experience with snakes was catching grass snakes as a kid and getting bitten, so despite easily being able to see her size through the bin at the silent auction, he was somehow surprised and terrified about her size . She was super docile, but he was positive that she'd stretch out and bite him at any moment. I don't know why the little pastel didn't cause the same worry, but I'm not going to question it! He's pretty ridiculous with the new one- I have photographic evidence of him essentially making her a "Baby Bjorn" style baby sling, lmao!
