I am buying 3 animal plastics cages, two T-8's for my 4 BP's, and a larger one for my boa. The T-8's arrived the other day.
For the T-8's, I am using 11" flexwatt down the middle, and 2x 40 watt radiant heat panels (one in the middle of each division of the cage). The larger cage will have a large RHP and flexwatt.
I have a herpstat 6 that can use dimming with 6 probes to control 6 zones. I also have two VE-100's that are on/off (currently in use for rack system).
I was originally thinking I could just control two of them same 40 watt RHP's with one probe to keep ambient temperatures up in the cage, then I would only need my herpstat 6. Now I'm trying to figure out how to best set it up using all 8 probes.
How would you control the temperatures? I could probably use the two VE-100's on two of the flexwatts, and have a probe on every heating element. I would preferably like to have one available for miscellaneous uses (temperature controlling my homebrew, heating a mat of seeds...), but that is secondary to the safety of my animals!
For the RHP's, I'm thinking of zip-tieing the probes 4" off of the ground or so on the back wall using something like this
I'm definitely going to get some LED strip lighting to light the cages. That's the next project.
