Hi all,
This is the first time I own a snake as pet. She's a three to four months old pastel ball python that my daughter bonded with at a reptile exhibition. TBH, I would've never got one if it wasn't because of my daughter. She's always fond of reptile and when she held the little one for two days straight...it was clear that my daughter has fell in love with the little thing.
We brought the little python home and she's been staying with us for almost three weeks now. Thanks to google that I found this site and believe me, it was like a God sent. We're able to set her tank and she's comfortably curling up in her hide though we're still trying to improve it. She's a well behaved little snake, active and never hiss at my daughter whenever she handles her. Of course I told my six years old daughter to always handle the snake gently and not to startle by suddenly moving her hands near the head.
Since then we've fed the snake mice four times. I was going to stick to once a week feeding as suggested but I found that she's roaming around the tank in the 3rd or 4th day after. From what I gather here it was a sign that she's hungry (correct me if I'm wrong) so usually on the 5th day I ended up feeding her again. What bother me is she skinny for her age? That she gets hungry easily? Or did I not feed her enough? I just weighed her today and she's about 120gr, is that too skinny? What is the normal healthy weight for a 4 months old ball python?
Please advise.
