I came home after a couple hours going out with my Dad, who I haven't seen in almost 3 years... when I looked at Cookie's monitors.
His humidity was at 85%. Temp was good though, so for a minute, I almost didn't check. But I'm glad I did.
Cookie was in his warm hide, FIRED the heck up like I've never seen him this fired up. And completely soaked. The paper towels I had put down were so soaked throughout the whole tank that they were dripping with water. The hides were also soaked. The cool side hide looked as if he was frantically trying to fit on it's partial upper ledge as that had paper towels in it to stop him from getting up in there were soaked as well.
His main water dish he always uses was still full. The wide set one, on the other hand, had been full when I left, was now drained.
His hot spot doesn't go over 93. The hot side staying at 85-90 degrees. The cool side remains at room temperature (varying from 70-83, depending on if heat is on.) and his humidity sits at 40% without humidifier.
Lately he has been "exploring" a lot. And before I moved, he never moved outside of just going from one hide to the other. At first I thought it was because before his husbandry had been very off. Too cold on the cool side and very dry, and now that he was more comfortable he was making the most of his territory. But... it seems to me that he's doing this during the daytime. Not just the night. And he has NEVER been this fired up before. Not since I first got him. Cookie is a very mellow BP, so this is definitely a change in behavior.
I think it's because, though, that instead of letting him see who was causing movement in his territory, I just simply started looking and poking at the towels that were soaked. That may have disturbed him enough to fire him up. He was perfectly fine and normal Cookie once I picked him up and dried him off.
Hm... I wonder if I could find a small sort of "tree house" hide in the event he does this sort of thing again. So he can stay dry at the very least.
