    Temperatures in New Set-up

hey, i recently set-up a tub for my ball python who will be arriving tomorrow morning. i am extremely worried, since the cold side is only around 65-70 and the hot side is around 75-80.

i am am using an acu-rite thermometer with the probe placed under the substrate on the hot side. i also have a temperature gun to check the temperature that gives slightly different results than the thermometer. i have a jump start thermostat with the probe placed in between the ultratherm heat mat and the tub. the thermostat is set to around 90.

i have no no idea what i should do to raise the temperature. help would be appreciated.

A uth is not going to raise the air temp to where it needs to be. You may need to add a heat lamp.

i was thinking about a che, but how would i attach it? the tub is plastic. i've heard people say that they cut a hole in the lid and covered it with mesh, but then the snake could touch that and get burned.

There is no need to cut the lid. The heat passes through fine. I've done this many times with both che and bulbs.

Using a lamp stand makes it easy to maintain a safe distance to prevent over heating and melting.

Both big box stores should have this.

That is a good move with the thermostat increase, but that still won't keep the ambient temp stabilized. Remember the jump start is a on and off programmed thermostat. While its a good thermostat to regulate the heat pad/ hot spot the lamp will be more efficient in controlling your ambient temperatures. Also, keep an eye on the humidity percentage with the lamp bc you may still have to make a adjustment for that.
Stay in peace and not pieces.
