Hey everyone,
I checked on the snakes this morning and noticed my hog island girl made a mess. I pulled her out and placed her in a fresh tub, then as I started to clean her tub I noticed blood spots on the wall. Her last feeding was last Thursday so I don't think it is from the rat she ate. I inspected her and she appears to be just fine. No wounds, no blood or mucus coming from nose or mouth, nothing coming from her vent, very energetic like usual. The way the blood is shaped (like dots) and where they are on the tub wall make me think it had to have been coming from her head. I did notice the other day she was wedging herself in that corner trying to escape through the gap in between the roof and tub, first time I've seen her do that. For now, I am going to skip today's feeding and keep an eye on her for a few days to see if any more blood shows up. If it does she's going to the vet, if not I'll go ahead and feed. I read somewhere that sometimes when yawning they can accidentally pierce their gum with a tooth and cause minor bleeding. Hopefully this is the case.
Have you guys seen this before?
