    BP size

I've been reading through posts about size since I think I have a very small girl and am trying to see if she's gaining weight as she should.

Traya was definitely hatched with a deformity, and I am sure that probably as something to do with it as well.

I got her at the Hamburg show on Oct 15 and when weighed at home she was 103g. She was hatched on the 4th of July this year. Feeding card from her breeder shows she's eaten fairly regularly since she hatched, and she's eaten like clockwork for me every 7 days since I got her. Her breeder said she was eating hoppers so that is what I got for her. Just weighed her today and she's up to 134g. She's settled in nicely and I've managed to get temps and humidity good. I'm thinking about moving her up to feeding every 5 days until she gets big enough to switch over to rat pups.

I don't think she looks skinny?

I'd consider switching to rats pups now. I think hoppers are prob too small for her.

From that angle she does not look underweight however she can definitely eat something bigger (a prey equal her girth size for now)

My little leopard male is 3 days younger than yours, and also eats once a week. The only difference is he's been consistently on rats, and I've made sure the prey item is 10-15% of his weight. A few weeks ago he was 209g. I stole this helpful link from Golem: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...mparison-Chart

If you can switch her to rats, and preferably f/t, I would think she might bulk up =)

PS- Great name, her skin totally looks like Darth Traya's

That is a great size comparison chart, thank you.

I've placed an order with Perfect Prey so once they arrive will try her on the rats. Her mice are f/t so hopefully won't be a difficult switch over.

And thanks! There was no doubt she was getting a Star Wars name, and her color just screamed Darth Traya to me.

Thought I might pop in and post some personal wisdom. So I got 2 hatchlings recently, both sisters born 23 Aug 2016. I didn't have my scale when they arrived but the breeder weighed them before shipping, so those are the approximate weights I have to go off of. I feed every 5-6 days and this Wednesday I will be feeding them their last rat pup and bumping them up to small (29-31g) weaned rats. Hoping this will give you an idea on how bps will grow on rats as well as give you a better idea on what to plan for when ordering. Of course not all BPs are created equal, so there is no guarantee that yours will grow at the same rate mine have. I also order from Perfect Prey and I called in my last order and they were very helpful in setting me up to ship a large order to Alaska. I opened my smallest package of weaned rats and found a few good transition rats to feed, but you could probably ask specifically for a package of smaller range weaned rats.

    Hope this helps!

    Arrival weight: ~100g
    Weighed today: 223g

    Enchi DH Clown Pied
    Arrival weight: ~124g

Update, my Perfect Prey order came today. Super impressed with how nicely they were packaged and just how clean and nice the rats looked?

Traya slammed the rat pup just like her mice, so all goes well. Hopefully she'll start plumping up some now.
