Talking Whats the silliest thing your snake has done?

Lol, let's have some fun. After hearing about a boa eating a beach towel, I thought it would be funny to hear some other fun memories about your beloved pets!

Here's mine: I have a 40-some year old uncle who's handi-capped and has the mind of a five year old. So we take care of him! He has fish down stairs in his tank (Or at least last time I checked he did, he's not too good with them!) Anyways I was bored and he was walking his dog on on of his 6 hour walks to.. EVERYWHERE! And I set my ball, Kiana down by Lester's (My uncle) fish tank, inwhich he left the lid off ><!!! I was getting dog treats out of this stupid bin that didn't want to open, and when I finally got it open, I went to check on Kiana, and WHAM.. She got a fish under water! Good thing my uncle didn't notice <_<

Another one is when I was feeding her. I do this in her cage, I just drop the mouse in and sit back and watch. Well. The mouse was infront of her, and she launched, missed, and attacked the heating pad! She did the whole Strangle/bite dealie to the pad, and my friends all laughed. They said if she was human, she'd be a blonde

    LOL that's too funny!

Actually the funniest thing was just last night. I was doing Baby's feeding (the whole family takes turns feeding her, other than the 4 year old child). I had the pre-killed mouse in the hemostats but I guess I was dangling it a bit high for Baby's liking and she reared up and just tilted her head at me like "geesh lady is that a mouse or a freaking BAT!". I got the hint and brought the mouse down lower and she hit it like usual but it was so funny to see her tilt her head slightly like she was totally confused and what the hell was that stupid mouse doing (or her stupid owner LOL). She's also well into blue so the poor thing probably wasn't seeing all that well and I didn't make dinner time any easier.

Other than that, watching Baby drag her mouse around by it's tail got my husband laffing hard as she was like Miss Fussy with a meal not "just so". I missed that one but he said she messed with that mouse for ages until it was just right then scarfed it down.

She attacked the heating pad because ball pythons hunt by heat signature. The heating pad gave off a stronger heat signature than the mouse and instinctually your snake was confused.

In my opinion it's not such a good idea to keep live electrical appliances inside a snake cage. There's a real risk of electrocution.

Re: Whats the silliest thing your snake has done?

I second what adam said...that equipment should be kept outside the enclosure. I'm also not finding the humor in a boa ingesting a towel...that's just neglegence.

Anyways in light of the topic: When my oldest male BP was much smaller he was around my wife's (before we where married) waist and started to go through her belt loops. He decided to sit there and not move...thinking he was stuck, it was my "professional" suggestion that she (my now wife) remove her shorts

...no this isn't going to get dirty...

He still wasn't coming out so i started to very cautiously cut the threads of the loop to get him out...about halfway through cutting he passed through himself!

Talking Re: Whats the silliest thing your snake has done?

    Let me see....

When its feeder pickup time the pet shop owner always expects me to bring one of my snakes and since my female has not been eating so well I don't want to stress her by taking a car ride in a snake bag to the local pet shop. So I always bring my male Freckles with me and I usually can't visit that place without spending more then an hour shootin' the poop with other patrons and buddies that go the the shop along with the owner since a big male ball python is usually quite a converstion piece.

A few weeks back while I was talking to some people there about my snakes and discussing all manner of caging and husbandry issues and talking about this and that.

Freckles usually likes to spend time with the owners little daughter around 8 years old (don't ask me how he recognizes her or why he gravitates toward her when i am there but he does, i can't explain half the stuff my animals do) well she was walking around with him and she was standing a bit too close the the fruit fly exhibit where several delicups were setup with cultures. Well Freckles had to investigate and in the process of climbing onto the display he knocked down about 10 delicups full of fruit flies and they were every where all over the floor and on the little girl and on Freckles. We had a good laugh as his daugter fetched the shop vac and sucked them all up we all had a pretty good laugh.
    Thanks,
    Damien

Re: Whats the silliest thing your snake has done?

    Eww bugs <_<

And yeah I know my snake was confused <_< also the heating pad is water proof etc, the chances of an eletrical problem are small. And I'm moving soon, so her cage has been cleaned out, it's only temp.

And about the beach towel, I don't know if it's true or not. But animal cruelty does happen, and it's not ending anytime soon. So don't freak out at me ..

no one was "freaking out on you" its just the insinuation that something like that could be considered funny...and its not at all. Its not your animal that it happend to so don't take offense as none was meant towards you.

Re: Whats the silliest thing your snake has done?

I tried to allow Lily to stay on my sholders but she always goes for my ears. She flicks her tongue and it tickles so bad that I've had to give that up. (how sad am I? ) She just won't leave them alone and I start laughing so hard that I get worried I'll drop her. *shakes head*

Now Dandylion decided to dip her mouse in the water, like she was having tea and crumpets. She only did it that one time, but she dragged it over to the water and then swished it around a couple times before downing the little booger.

Re: Whats the silliest thing your snake has done?

As I was feeding my milksnake with rubber coated tongs, she moved so fast for the mouse, I was startled and dropped the mouse. Butters is an albino and a cross between a floridia kingsnake and a honduran milksnake. She was in shed (nice milky eyes) at the time...and well, she missed the mouse and latched on to one end of the tongs. She then tried to eat the tongs. I rushed her over to the batheroom and proceeded to run water over her and the tongs for a while trying to get her to let go. I stupidly tried waving the mouse at her to try and get her to let go and latch onto the mouse. She got excited and continued trying to eat the tongs. After about 15 minutes (give or take, I can't be exact). she finally let go of the tongs. I put her back in her rubbermaid after that. I don't recall if I fed her that night or waited a couple of days later. She doesn't have any problems, although I've seen her so entracted with mouse smell that she has "experimentally mouthed" another section of her body.
