One of my personal joys about owning a bp.
So I bought Charlotte a bigger hide from exo terra because she loved her old one but was too big for it. She'd always pop the top off and work around it to fit (barely). Of course she checked it out and then ignored it So this morning as I'm getting ready to check on her, I'm thinking I should try out some other hides to see if she likes those. Sure enough I open the cabinet and there she is, in her new hide. I actually said "alright" out loud just because I was so happy lol. There's not much I can buy for her so when I see her using her hides it just makes me feel great. When I say I can't buy her stuff I mean like toys and the like. lol wouldn't that be something if snakes played with toys?

Aww, it's always nice when your pets enjoy something you got for them
I had a teacher back in high school who owned (along with other reptiles) a rescued savannah monitor named Baby. Baby is probably the most expressive savannah I've ever encountered, she really seemed to seek out and enjoy attention, and actually preferred to be carried about on her back cradled like a baby (hence the name); she would actually flip herself over in your arms so she was belly up. Well Baby had a ball pit we would put her in when it was time for cage cleaning and she LOVED this ball pit. And I really do hesitate to say the word love when it comes to reptile emotions, but she obviously had a huge affinity for her kiddy pool ball pit.
We'd sit her down in it and immediately she would start wiggling her body to sink into the balls. She liked to cruise around and would eventually rest with just barely her nose poking out from the surface, almost like she was soaking lol. And she was always so reluctant to go back in her cage afterwards. Such a character.

lol that's amazing. Yeah I know it's hard to place reptile emotions but I know some have there own ways of expressing themselves. Like monitors I know some of the bigger lizards do seem to enjoy attention. I think the best examples would be tegus and some iguanas.

One of the things I love most is just seeing them grow and knowing that you're doing everything right. I converted my Mojave and my butter to rats today. They didn't have a single problem. I will be converting the others as soon as they're a bit bigger. The breeder near me either has rat pinkies or rat pups, no where really in between. But my entire collection eats every single time. They are all garbage cans, so I have no worries about switching.

Awesome. It's great to have eager feeders. Charlotte has never missed a meal with me.
