    Ovulation or no?

Hey guys, looked in on my 2012 pied female and saw this... Trying to get opinions on whether it's a ovy or not. I thought it was a little high up in the abdomen? Sorry for the blurry pics.

My guess would be no by how the lower part of her body doesn't appear as swollen or any tail suck. I know sometimes they look bigger irl or only have a few hours looking their biggest so there's no real way to say by that picture. I just went through something similar with one of my pied girls. Kept going back and forth if I was seeing her building or ovy but she's since gotten smaller and started her shed cycle so looks like eggs in about a month!

Thanks HL, it does.look a bit high up is what I was thinking. But sure, building is more than likely what it is.

    Re: Ovulation or no?

Update on the possible ovulation of my 2012 female pied. She was bred to a pastel pied male and a regular pied male.

(Not to bring the thread off-topic, but I'm just curious, how many times have you paired her?)

That is really a tough call. I had to look back over pics of my females ovulating and I'm still not entirely sure. I'd try to quietly glance in on her again tonight, see if the swelling and posturing become more distinct.

Can you see the skin between her scales? How's she positioning herself? Behavior when you look in on her? Still eating, or no?

Yeah, it's really quite a bit thicker and protuberant in comparison to the initial picture and look. Thanks.

Thanks red, not off topic at all. She has been paired off and on with the two male pieds over the past 3 and a half months. Numerous locks over that time frame.

Thank you Alicia. She is staying in the back of the tub on the belly heat. Refusing food over the past 4 feedings spaced at 2 week intervals. Can't really say I see skin in between the scales. Just looks larger today.

    Re: Ovulation or no?

Well, it looks like this was a ovulation. Pied female gave me a nice clutch of 5 eggs yesterday and they all look nice and plump. Clutch weight was 130gms and all eggs candle well with vein structure. A couple of the eggs seemed to have small denting on the sides so I rushed them into the egg tub and then the incubator. Gonna go with the vermiculite under the light diffuser. Temps 87.0F with the humidity @ 99% for now. Pics to follow later today.

    Re: Ovulation or no?

Here she is coiling the eggs so tightly I didn't realize she had already laid them.
