Got hissed at for the first time :/

Adopted a 7yo female for first snake and she has been super docile but she hissed ate for the first time. I fairly sure as to why but wanted input. I have five kids and have been slowly introducing each of them to our snake over the last few weeks. Tonight was my 4yo step daughters turn and she was the only one be nervous. I took the snake back from mom and she tried to go undery pillow and when I pulled her gently back so she didn't go under the bed I thought I heard a hiss. I wasnt sure that's what I heard and continued to hold her. She seemed calm and was laying on my chest kind of poking her head slowly around when she got im my face. I have no fear of her so I let her explore and she tried to get intoy beard she definitely hissed! She backed away slowly so I don't think she was startled. I'm sure it's no big deal but I'm just not happy with the fact I may have let her get upset.

My BP sometimes gets moody and will hiss if you pet her lol. She doesn't do anything else, just hisses while staying on her course to whatever she is heading towards. I wouldn't worry unless the snake starts get actually defensive. Pythons sometimes get moody.

My Mojave is a hisser.. just part of her personality. She just doesn't like being woken up sometimes. All of my others have never hissed at me a single time.

They can get in moods sometimes, and it's usually just random hissing and nothing more. I noticed it can take them awhile to get out of it too, whether from being annoyed or frightened, so she was probably still "in it" when you were holding her later.

I always remind myself that they're still animals, not robots, and can act however they want. Even the ones who are docile and sweet 99% of the time can randomly get into a mood, and hiss or even try to tag out of the blue.

My dumeril's boa, who has always been a pet rock who just gets in a position and chills with me when I have her out, was just chilling with me on the couch one day (with nothing in particular happening) as usual. I simply go to pet her mid-back, and she flings her head around 180 and attempts to seriously tag me. But I dodged it LOL. She tagged her own back right where my hand was a second before, one of her teeth hooking onto a scale. I just went back to holding her, she didn't act out of the ordinary... And it's never happened again!

A warning hiss is always better than a bite!

My Normal girl does that sometimes to let me know she's not in the mood. Had her now for about 5 years and hasn't struck at me yet.

My enchi huffs about every time you remove her from they tub. But when she's in shed she will give a serious hiss that you wouldn't expect from a snake her size. But she has never tried to bite.

Emrys hisses at me sometimes when I go to pick him up for cleaning or handling, but I never hear anything from him after the first hiss.

My little guy hissed for the first time the other day. It was 6AM and he peed in his tub overnight, so I was changing his paper.

In all fairness, I also hiss when people wake me up that early.
