30g Rat Pups for 115g Ball

Are 30g rat pups okay for a 115g ball? The lady at the exotic pet store where I bought them positively insisted they are what he should be eating, but when I put one in his enclosure to feed him today, he constricted it but didn't eat it. Is it too big?

More than enough. Did you happen to disturb him after he finished constricting?

At that size I'd be feeding him rat fuzzys. I usually feed my snakes 10-15% of their body weight for their first year or two.

That's almost 30% of your snakes weight. Seems like too big of a meal to me.

That is big for 115 gram snake, but not impossible for him to eat. I feed mine 15 to 20% of his body weight.

Thats 26% to be exact... If you do by 15 to 20% of body weight, the prey wld be 17 to 23 grams.

That is too big IMO for right now. He should be eating rat fuzzies till about 250g then possibly rat crawlers till about 400g or so b4 small rats. That's how I have feed all mine. That's my opinion.

Eyeballing size isnt helpful. You need to kno the weight of your snake. Get a digital scale. Weigh snake, fig out if you gonna feed 10 to 15% or 15 to 20% of snakes weight.

I have a digital scale, and I know his weight. It's 115g. And I weighed the rats and they're 27-30g. I thought it seemed too big too. I guess I'll have to maybe try one more time and if he doesn't take it I'll go back and ask for smaller food.
