    Fake Hets

A Buddy Of Mine Bought Many Het Albinos From A Breeder A Few Years Back. He Bought 6 Pairs Of 1 Male To 2 Females & Bred Them Last Year. He Was So Excited To Produce His First Albinos But At The End Of The Day He Had About 50 Something Normals. Has Anyone Ever Experienced This Before? What Is A Good Source For Real Het Albino Ball Pythons?

There is no guarantee on het proving out their first season.
Were they possible hets or 100% hets?

How many albinos did he make? What was the total number of eggs?

The only sure source for a het albino is from a female albino you own or a male albino bred to a Virgin female. Anything else and you can have things like sperm retention and/or you are trusting people. The more realistic approach is to just buy your hets from someone with a good reputation.

With the price of albino those days why not by a female and in a year buy a male, and save 3 years of raising animals that will only yield a chance of 25% Albino per eggs?

The Breeder Sold Them As 100% Het Albinos. He Had A Total Of 12 Females. Most Had 3-4 Eggs & Some Had A Little More. All Together I Believe He Had 52. None Was Albino.

I do have to say though that scamming is in this hobby and the idea that someone would sell fake hets is not out of the realm of reality. However my friend bred two het albino for 6 seasons before hitting an albino, and he knew they were hets because he produced them!

Always check on the Board of Inquiry on Fauna Classifieds before buying from anyone.

It could be very unlucky (I have seen it) I know someone that had to produce 29 eggs with the same het female paired to a visual male before hatching a visual. , it's not common or likely but it can happen.

I would keep the females since they are up to size and get a male Albino before completely giving up on them.

Than I would take it to the breeder and ask for compensation, well of course if he did not buy from a reputable breeder it may be difficult.

I guess he could be. Lol you would think though if they was Hets he would produced at least 1 albino from all those eggs. Ain't it a 25% chance breeding Hets to get an albino.

It's per egg, each egg has 25% chances to produce an albino, 25% chances chance to produce a normal and 50% chances to produce a Het

Again it does not work out, Visual to Het you chances are 50% per eggs and my friend had to produce 29 eggs before producing a visual.
