Hey guys, so I just did sort of an on the spot purchase. I know that's not the best thing to do considering I haven't done much research, but here he is. I got him for 50 bucks, I couldn't pass it up and it's a perfect snake for my five year old boy. So let me introduce "name unknown as of yet." The Kenyan sand boa.... now can someone give me a link to a thread for their best husbandry tactics please?

I can't point you in the right direction for husbandry but i will say nice pick up for your son I don't think ksb's are that hard to take care of so you should be alright.

Kenyan sand boas are extremely hardy. They thrive in a tub setup but can successfully be kept in tanks. They do well with a thick layer of particle substrate such as aspen, sani chips, or multiple layers of newspaper. They like it warmer than most snake species with a hot spot of about 90-95 degrees. Ambient humidity is fine, they can be kept pretty dry compared to BPs and most boas. A small water bowel should be provided along with a hide. My kenyan sand boa is a great feeder as are most well established ones I know.

Scott Miller out of il is the king of sand boas. Look for any information he may have posted in places. A cool guy who has been around snakes for a very long time. He produces the best sand boas each year.

Thank you all for the kind and informative words. He seems like an exceptional snake. Super tame super beautiful. Definitely what I look for in a snake! Lol... plus, the breeder told me he switches from live to f/t with ease... boom Shaka laka.

I had a sand boa for years I can't recall her every saying 'no' to a f/t meal.

Also you can't beat the look of those cute beady little eyes!

Yes, she's a beauty alright. ... they're nice snakes but balls will always be where my heart is. I'm just obsessed with them!
