IBD Question

So I've had my Boa Constrictor quarantined for about a month and a half now on a completely different floor from my ball python. Everything seems to be going smoothly, both are healthy. However, my roommate bought her own ball python and insisted on keeping him in the same room as my boa. I told her it wasn't a good idea because of IBD and all of that but she hasn't listened and decided to keep them in the same room . They've been in the same room for about a month now and her ball python is fine. Is this proof that my boa is not a carrier of IBD? If she had it wouldn't my roommates python be sick by now?

Actually no, bc the symptoms can sometimes be insidious and go unnoticed. Other times the progressive muscular disfigurement can be swift or slow. It's a viral disease and is not usually seen symptomatically in young snakes. However some boas can be asymptomatic carriers. Boas and pythons that are infested with mites are more at risk for acquiring the disease. Stargazing and loss of muscular control with the animal not being able to right itself, corkscrewing posturing, extreme backwards posturing are latent signs of IBD. The chances of your boa and her Python having IBD is remote. The main thing is to keep the enclosures as clean as possible and mite free. Enjoy your reptiles.

No one can tell if either snake will be sick, both can be asymptomatic for months, now if you really want to know there is a blood test that can be done, personally if I had a Boa that is what I would do, I would have a blood test done.

Restart the 90-day quarantine clock on both on the day your roommate's ball python came in.
