Another enclosure size queston, sorry
So, the response to most any caging question seems to be "go get a T8!", but some of those saying so will further advise to get one that can be divided, "so you can put another BP in there!" A lot of herpers seem to be doing just that, which leads me to wonder if 24"x24" of floor space is big enough for an adult, wouldn't someone with only one BP and no plans to get more be fine with just a T3, or even a T1? Or are all these people just putting young pythons in each half of a T8, and moving them into bigger quarters when they reach full size? For my part I'm trying to decide on long-term housing for my 85 gram juvenile who is currently in a glass 10 gallon, which has of course been awful to maintain proper levels. And these enclosures are expensive, more so after learning today that our cat's diabetic and all that that is going to cost us...

Mine is 24 by 36 and 15 high with a shelf (animal plastics carpet cage). My male seems rather content in that size so far but doesn't use the shelf much. I'm thinking the T3 would be fine for a male. My female is still tiny, so I guess I'll wait and see if it's big enough for her. I really think 36 long is about minimum for adults, though. I've only owned three BPs, however

For comparison's sake, here is the floor surface area of the Animal Plastics options you mentioned compared to the most common tubs used for adult female ball pythons:
- Animal Plastics T8 (standard): 1152 in2 (48" x 24")
- Animal Plastics T3: 864 in2 (36" x 24")
- Vision V-70: 595 in2 (34" x 17.5")
- Freedom Breeder FB70: 586 in2 (33.5" x 17.5")
- Iris CB-70: 581.875 in2 (33.25" x 17.5")
- Animal Plastics T8 (divided): 576 in2 (24" x 24")
- Animal Plastics T1: 576 in2 (24" x 24")
- ARS 70-Series: 571.3125 in2 (33" x 17.3125")
The reason the T8 is recommended as often as it is is because, even when divided, it's a size in line with an adult ball python's needs. It offers the flexibility of both giving a single BP more than enough room in a big display setup or adding a divider and a second BP without cramping their style. The divider is only held in place by pressure and can easily be added or removed at any time.
On a related note, these things are like pringles. How could anyone just have one?!?!

Yeah, after all that, I saw that T8s are on sale for $150, so ordered one. I can always get a divider later, right? Oh and hey, I was looking at getting the white one, but then started wondering if it would get visible, permanent stains from urates and waste. Has anyone with the white Animal plastics cages noticed that? Would I be better off with black?

Yes, I've asked Ali and you can get a divider later. Just have to think about it with regards to whether you have a light or RHP installed.
