I have a Genetic Stripe and a het Genetic Stripe in my collection but I'm really unsure what, if anything I want to/could do with them. Neither are at breeding size or age and won't be for a couple of years. Should I keep them? It seems it would be a looooong time off before I could breed them out into other morphs, needing to prove offspring back to parents to possibly get G Stripe morphs... But would it ultimately be worth the inevitable clutches of normals and 66% hets to get to that point? Just how desirable is G Stripe in morphs? What would you do?

Just interested to know what others would do with them really. Anybody have a current long term plan with normal G Stripes?

Genetic stripe are not the most popular mutation out there and they really started to phase out when the super stripe appeared, there are still people working with them but they are not one of those mutations in demand.

Now the question is do you want to work with what YOU like, what is in demand or both?

Regardless of what you get or work with breeding is all about patience from raising to breeding to hatching.

That's just it, they don't do much for me. Patience I can do, I just wanted to gauge their popularity. We bought them in a collection of others so they will probably stay as pets if that's general consensus.

Well I can tell you that an animal that does not do it for me does not have it's place in my collection and I have let go of powerhouse in demand animals in the past because of that. I have to be in awe when I open those enclosures.

Funny thing personal taste, isn't it? I absolutely love my g-stripes, have already hatched super pastel and pastel stunners and do indeed have plenty of plans. I have a Garcia chocolate lesser het g-stripe male growing up in the wings, a virgin perfect stripe visual g-stripe that I hope to breed this year and also separate double recessive ghost/g-stripe projects including mojave and pastel that will hopefully start to come to fruition next season. Future plans involve producing a pastel axanthic male (missed this year but got some nice pastels het) to pair with my gorgeous super pastel g-stripe girl for dh's and possibly some spectacular g-stripe and axanthic pastel/super pastel babies along the way. This season I hatched a pretty ghost het g-stripe female and next year her pastel g-stripe het ghost sire will be going to my big pastel het g-stripe female and possibly some other girls (ghosts included) now that his het is proven.

I was also under the impression that g-stripe was under appreciated, but I have 2 parallel lines of prefect stripes and actually found that my visual babies have been in more demand than anything else that I hatched.

i think G-Stripes are gorgeous. i just checked MorphMarket and this is what i found:

i think 380 total sold is good. i assume not all were sold on MorphMarket, but the number reflect the sales of the ones listed since it went live last year (?). also i don't think everyone who a G-Stripe might not breed them tho, they were jsut bought to have in the collection.
