Help IDing Firefly-YellowbellyXChampagne-lesser

So when fires and yellow bellies combos came down in price I still was reluctant to get into them until seeing the much wilder stuff they produced. A few years ago I decided I had to get into the projects (knowing I also may have trouble IDing them at first clutch) by getting a firefly-yellowbelly male. Although he was breeding size, it wasn't until after a few years and finally this year, and many failed breeding attempts, that he sired a clutch.

Sure enough, I am not sure on the resulting snakes as this was my first time IDing YB&Fire offspring. I feel I may have them IDed at this point, but was hoping for some help confirming/denying them.

I am including lots of pics under different lighting to ensure the best reference. 7 Snakes total.

Please let me know what you think, if I am missing anything, and if I am way off. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Beautiful snakes!! If you don't mind me asking, how are you getting that pure white background in the images? What do you use for that?

And I'm guessing the white background is a light box with white background. Can make a cheap diy one with cardboard, white construction paper with a hole cut in top for a light.

Most important thing is lighting. Lighting does almost all the work. In this case is a light box with bulbs producing 5000k and 6500k.

Depending which camera I use, some pics come out with a very slight graying of the white. In this situation it can be corrected without affecting the snake, but only if you are starting with good lighting to begin with. Anything not well lit results in too much gray, or too much contrast. These are harder to fix properly and can affect the quality of the image. To fix subtle graying I use photoshop.

In photoshop I select all the white but none of the snake. It is important to me to not alter the snake at all as it needs to remain an accurate photo-representation of the snake.

Although you can use stuff like curves, levels, brightness, and other features, I find this usually does poorly, or negatively affects the shadows of the snake. So what I use is Image-->Adjustments-->Selective color.

The only one I mess with is "whites" (in the drop down)

I usually want the shadow to remain a little, but changing whites too much can remove the shadow, or alter its contrast improperly. If you throw a white square onto my images, you will see they are not always true white. That's because I did not take it to that point, but instead what works best for the photo. If the photo came out without needing this adjustment, you will also see the same thing with a white square overlaid as the camera tends not to pick it up as a full white.

If you try this and find your snake is adjusting, it means you did not select the area properly and you should start over. The best way to alleviate this concern is to get it right in the original photo, which again comes back to lighting.

After this is all done, I tend to compare the snake directly to the photo to be sure it is properly represented. If not, it is easier and better to just retake the photo than try to alter the snake in photoshop to match. Editing the snake in photoshop always tends to cause some discrepancy, so just not doing it is the best solution.

So, umm, yeah... all comes back to lighting. Look up how to do a tent, there are many online resources. I use light from the top, and all sides, including the opening of the front. The bulbs are 5000k and 6500k. If my hardware store kept 6500k in stock, I would just use those, but gotta work with what I can get. Usually the ones labeled "daylight" are the 5000k ones, but check the box to be sure.

Did not know that, but I would presume you are right, so I am stopping that conversation now. Thanks for the heads up.
You are right. Is a light box. The white is sometimes adjusted in photoshop, but the snake is never altered.
