    best diet for feeders

Ok I have a snake that after several months is still having issues with rats...seems terrified previous owner says the person she bought him from may have allowed him to be attacked by a rat and ever since he hasnt wanted anywhere near them

that said he's picky about his mice as well! '

I was told to consider getting mice alive and to keep them alive long enough to feed them a higher calorie diet for a few weeks then feed them to him so he might get the best out of them.

anyone tried a high calorie diet for feeder mice? any luck? does it help? i so what did you do.

tricks i've tried for switching to rats, scenting, broken skulls, FT, various colors, various ages, various sizes, tuna, gecko, mouse guts.

will eat mice but sometimes will only eat 1.

    other ideas welcome.
considering trying chicks every other week between mice..

no pics sorry my regular laptop and camera are in the shop this week.

    Have you tried ASFs?

That was the only thing that worked for my picky mouser. She wouldn't eat rats no matter what and I was lucky if I could get her to take 1 live mouse every couple of weeks...

She pounced on her first ASF within seconds of introducing it and has continued to do so ever since. They are much larger than mice so she has been gaining well since. Size wide they are inbetween jumbo mice and small rats.

A couple places online sell them frozen and with a little work you could probably find some local to you.
