Can my ball make ME SICK?!
my ball has none of the real obvious signs of a respiratory infection but I read somewhere that improper humidity, temp, and non movement are signs of respiratory infections --I dont have the highest quality thermometer and today shes just been staring up at the top of the tank on the wall i also gave her a bath today to get off some skin from an incomplete shed, when i got her out of the tub a lot of water dripped from her nose onto my pants...is that normal did she breathe in water?? my boyfriend who sleeps in the same room with her everynight has been sick and wont get better --IF SHE HAS AN INFECTION CAN SHE GIVE IT TO US?--
so two questions ...the water out of her nose and can they spread infections?
please help

Re: Can my ball make ME SICK?!
You can not get a respiratory infection from a snake.
If she has an RI, then water dripping from her nose may actually be mucous. Did you put her in deep water for her bath? It should only be shallow, with maybe a towel that she can rub against to loosen the skin. A snake should not be swimming when you're soaking it.

Your snake may be slightly uncordanated y it has its minor RI. A tretment for it if it gets bad may be Atropine at .02 to .04 Mg per Kg of your snake, and injected twice a day. not to worry you hope yor snake feels beter !
LMAO ... you sure about that??
Bacterial infections in snakes "turn into" human retro viruses?
Anti-nerve agents are now being used as anti-biotics?
Gotta love the internet!

Re: Can my ball make ME SICK?!
Adam was just being Adam.. lol No, you can not catch a RI from a snake. Only way a reptile would make you sick is if you got salmonella from it. That's why you wash your hands after you handle the snake.

Re: Can my ball make ME SICK?!
Well here's the rule of thumb in our house with pet rats, snake, a cat, fish and the other host of critters that have moved through our lives at some point or other (4 kids here).
1. Wash before and after handling the snake.
2. Wash after handling the rats and especially BEFORE handling the snake (obvious I know but the kid's kinda forget that one a lot LOL).
3. We do NOT kiss anything on the face or let anything lick our face if it can lick it's own butt
Works for us!
