New BP, Questions!
Hey! I'm new to this site but I have a couple questions about my new ball python. First off, I've had one before back in 2012 but ended up getting rid of her. I finally got another one and she is so different then the last one I had. She NEVER comes out from under her hide (I got her 4 days ago) unless I get her out. Which I plan on stop getting her out for a few day like recommended. But at night I never see her out like most snakes. I wake up a lot during the night but when I look over she's not out. My last snake was definitely the complete opposite. Anyone know why? or if I should do something different? Her temp and humidity is all correct from the research I did. She is in a 20 gallon tank with 2 hides and water. I have the coconut husk shavings as bedding (I'm allergic to all the other types of beddings).
My next question is feeding. She is suppose to be getting fed this Friday and I was so excited I forgot to ask the lady at the pet store what size she was eating but from having a snake before I had an idea on what size. My question is, is it okay to feed live mice? My last snake refused to eat the frozen ones and my mom had a fit over them being in her freezer. And the live one (at the place I get them) are cheaper than buying the frozen ones.
Thank you for anyone who can help me!

Double check all your husbandry.
I would check with the pet store to find out what it was eating.
Yes, monitored live feeding is okay.

What does "temp and humidity are all correct" mean? (Just want to make sure it's right.)
Definitely stop holding her! Leave her totally alone for a week. Just monitor temps, humidity and that she has water.
How old is she and how big is she? That will tell you whether she needs mice or rats. Rats are much more nutritionally complete than mice, but if she's an itty baby, yeah mice. Monitor live feedings as you don't want her getting bitten.
After leaving her alone for an entire week, then offer food. If she eats, leave her alone for another 48 hours before handling.
Every snake is different and each has their own personality. Mine isn't always up during the night either. But again, what are her Temps and humidity? Perhaps something is off? She could also be stressed and hiding from being handled before she was totally settled in.

temp and humidity is fine. Now about food I would switch over to rats sense they have more fat content than a mouse does. Also don't handle your snake for a couple of weeks let it settle in to its new home and get a few feedings in first before handling.

Okay thank you! Hopefully the place I get her food from will have the rats in the size she needs. Will not handling her for a few weeks make it harder for her to get use to me?
