BP and the Not So Great Outdoors
I need to go out to the pet store to get some new things. (Smaller hides, for prime example.)
I have a hard time trying to eyeball hides, so it's necessary for me to bring my BP with me...
I do not have a carrier, but he seems to be ok with being around my neck or in my sweatshirt pocket. I don't intend to do this a lot, but does anyone have any suggestions?
i do not have a shoebox, or tup-a-ware that I can put holes in (it's my roommate's stuff). I have a pillowcase, but I only have the one and I'm not sure if it would be ok to use it. It's clean but it's got some pokey needle-like things in the seams in the inside and I'm not sure if that is on the outside part as well.
I do not intend upon spending a lot of time out. Just a quick trip to the store and back. He has been fed and has already digested and pooped the meal, so I feel this won't make him sick. And I'll give him a couple of cool down days after before feeding.

It would probably be less stressful on your ball python to lay a tape measure across him while he is curled up and bring that to the store with you instead.

If you have a few sizes of tupperware I'd just put them over the snake till you find one that is a good size (or close enough) and then measure the tupperware....or measure the snake. Then take a tape measure to the pet store.

Have you checked out the products on reptilebasics? It takes a few days to ship, so not sure if your plans are to buy hides at the store and then order on reptilebasics later.. But by the size of Wheatley in your picture, he would be using a "small hide box" here. https://www.reptilebasics.com/hide-boxes
You can also order a medium hide for when he outgrows the small hide, so it's worth the shipping.
A good thermostat on the site as well: http://www.reptilebasics.com/ve-100

At his current size the ideal hide is a 6 inches plastic flower pot saucer which can be found in the gardening section of home depot or lowes, along with lamp dimmer and plastic tubs.
One store one stop and no need to take your BP outside.

Yeah, I recommend the pot saucers too. Pet stores have very few hides and most of them are too open for baby BPs. Just cut a part out of the saucer with scissors for a door and you're good. Although even without a door they'll usually figure out how to get under it, unless you use paper towels (or something else that's not diggable) as substrate.

You can "measure" which hide size you need with any number of containers at home. Cereal bowls, plastic tubs, a hat... anything. Then take that item with you to the store instead of your python. There's no need to carry him to a store that could have sick snakes or mites or anything, without proper heat and such.
If you don't have a tupperware to use for needed trips, go get one. It would cost you a dollar. Then you'd have a secure thing to carry him in. Poking holes in plastic is easy.

Definitely don't take him out to the store.
Dollar stores have cheap plastic bins you can use to make a travel tub IF he needs to go to a vet. Easy to poke holes in. Yzma has an old pillow case and a Rubbermaid bin for vet travels or emergency evacs

My roommate owns the house and is terrified of snakes. He made me
swear that nothing of his would touch the snake. Tup-a-ware of his, included. So to measure like that, I would have to go out and buy a set. At that point I may as well just use it. XD

I don't know if you saw the new hide I added, but Rather than obvious plastic small things I actually went to the garden section and found a hollow sort of rock/skull thing. It's got a smooth place up inside it, like a loft... Inside the large rock is one of those plastic saucers.
