Please tell me this is normal

For the past week or so, Sammy has been really really active, barely in his hide anymore. He's moving around a lot, mostly going up to the lid as if he wants to get out. Whenever I take off the lid he comes out of the tub or onto my hand. Whenever I try to put him back he comes back up, please tell me this is normal, if you guys need a video or something I'll make sure to take one as soon as possible.

Really? I've been feeding him rat pups lately, should I bump him up to weaned rats?

I don't know his exact measurement, but he's a 2016 male born in April. I think he's about a foot and a half. I'll post a pic to show you.

You want prey items to be a little bigger around than the widest part of the snake. A rat pup is probably too small at this point. So either more than one, increase the frequency or increase the prey size.
