Tonight my male ball starting making a weird noise that sounds about like when you have something in your nose and try to blow it out. I had him out a couple of times earlier today for about 10-15 min each time. Once at 6pm after he dumped his water bowl and was letting the residual water dry out after mopping it up. Which he seems to do about every other day. Then a second time at midnight when I noticed he had taken a poop and kept him out for a while after spraying the tub with <10% bleach water to let it air out after wiping it out. Both times he was normal, no noises and was his usual very calm/docile demeanor. I started hearing the noise at about 2am. At first I thought it was one of the snakes farting or taking a poop, but the sound kept going on for longer than normal and spent a few minutes trying to figure out which one it might be in the rack. I hear the sound about every 40- 60 seconds for about 5 minutes, the it'll be 10 minutes without a noise. I think it was him and pulled out his tub to take a peek and he acted more skittish than normal and even balled up very tightly when I went to hold him for a better look. which I have never had him do in the year that I've had him. So I just left him be for now. I did just move the rack across the room from on the desk across the room to the floor at the foot of my bed. And I put a towel over the cutout viewing window that faces the bed. At the moment there is atleast no bubbling, popping, or mucus. Just that wheezing/ huffing sound and acting more skittish than normal.
The thermostat on the rack has been kept at 89.9* for the hotspot and usually reads between 87-91*with an ambient temp of about 77-80*. That's the reading in 4 different thermometers with one in each tub. The humidity usually runs about 50-60% of the bowls aren't flipped, the raising to a puddle if they are. And I raise the humidity to about 70-80* during shed by putting the bowl on the heat tape. They are kept in paper towels except for the pastel girl I just swapped to aspen chips in hope of making her feel more secure and start feeding more consistently. I just got him back to eating regularly on jumbo mice for about 6 weeks now after finding that he despises the east of a rat. Incase it's a respiratory infection starting to kick in I raised the thermostat to 93* which should put the tub from 91-94*. In hopes of helping him to kick it and keep the others from catching anything. If I keep hearing it come morning I'll put him in a tub across the room by himself and see about having a vet check him out if I hear it when I get home from work tomorrow evening.
Anything else I should do and watch for?
Thanks,
Kyle
