Need help finding Coconut Husk Chip substrate.

    Hey guys,
So I've finally decided to switch from Repticarpet to Coconut Husk Chips (Not the coco soil/coir) even though i have been using the carpet with much success but, I just want a bit less maintenance substrate as far as humidity and replacing goes. So after some research I've decided Coconut Husk Chips but, no nearby pet stores have them, they only have the Coco soil/coir. My question is does anyone know where I can get Coco Husk Chips in good quality/less dusty and preferably in bulk. And for the people that use this substrate where do you personally get it. Thanks for the time, Cheers!

    Where about are you?
I know (in the UK, which I'm guessing you are not from) Swell reptiles has all sorts of stuff.

Maybe just search exotic pets suppliers online and see if there are any websites that sell it.

I'm in Chicago. Just trying to find out where's the cheapest/best place to find some and if they're all pretty much the same quality.

The 7qt brick is a $2.99 add-on item on Amazon. You can also get it at Petsmart/Petco.

Dubiaroaches.com 12"x12"x3" for $10.99 and shipping is $7 regardless of the order size. I got two bags a month ago to try it out. So far I like it. Very absorbent, expands a good deal, and you can add as much or as little water as you need for your humidity requirements. A little dusty but not bad.

Is their some out there that is less dusty than that one. I was looking at on Amazon at Kritter's Crumble Coarse https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...A37ICMX3N89X2Q. Would you think this is good? And anyone else who uses the substrate care to to say where they purchase it?

Need help finding Coconut Husk Chip substrate.

I think some dust is going to be inevitable, even if it says dust free. Definitely not dusty in the same way as coco coir by any means. I looked at the kritters crumble too and I think the dubia roaches stuff seemed to be a better deal, especially if you're buying a bunch because it's $7 shipping regardless. To be fair this is the only coconut chip bedding I've used. It's 20 liters of bedding per bag if that's helpful at all

I was just more concerned with the quality. I thought maybe their was one out their that people knew about that was less dusty and just better overall I would definitely buy that one for my BP but, if you say their pretty much the same i'll take your word for it. Besides Dubia roaches is sponsoring an upcoming Reptile Show the 28th in Chicago along with RodenPro, so it looks like I'm leaving the show with a cooler filled with Rats and some Coco Substrate.

Gotcha. I've heard that Reptichip is supposed to be pretty dust free, but I've only seen it for like $30 for a 12x12x6 and that's before shipping. Hope you can get a good deal on something at the reptile show!

Thanks allot for recommending Reptichip. After researching it it's the one I'm going to buy. Was able to find it for a fair deal. Again thanks, I never heard of the substrate before you mentioned it!! Love this forum
