Proper size flexwatt tape for a 41qt?

    Hey,

Question for the breeders on here:

What size Flexwatt tape do you guys (and gals) use for your larger females? I am planning on setting up a CB70 rack from AP Cages with the Gray Freedom Breeder tubs with the cup holders. Would you guys recommend 3,4, or 6" heat tape? (Reptile Basics doesn't carry 5" last time I checked.

I was originally thinking of getting a rack from Freedom Breeders, but I'm thinking that will be too big for most of my males.

I'm trying to get these started before its time to cycle my females for the upcoming beefing season (I currently have 3 females who are up to weight and may go for this season).

Their room ranges from 73-85°F depending on the time of year. I have provided supplemented heating to keep their area from dropping lower than 75°F in the early spring, when heating in the building has been prematurely shut off (already addressed to management, so shouldn't be an issue next spring).

    Thank you all in advance.

Thanks! I was leaning towards 6", but wanted to get opinions before committing. This will be my first season, so I'm trying to plan things earlier on.

Keep in mind that unless you get creative the 6 in may not work for baby tubs unless you get really creative and you need to use the same width for a single thermostat. The babies are one of the reasons I went ambient.

Depends on a few factors if you have a herp room heated at 75 , 3 or 4 inches wide is more than enough.

I've been thinking about that. I have 2 1553/1555 racks from AP Cages. These are fitted with 3" flexwatt and are okay. I wasn't sure sure if the smaller tape would suffice.
