    Shedding Frequency

Well I've done my research but I'm still a bit confused on this one. Baby our now 3.5 month old (approx) ball python just completed her first shed with us on May 19th. Yesterday we noted she's gone dull again and her eyes are blue so we immediately upped her humidity and introduced her humid hide again.

It's only been barely more than 2 weeks since the last shed was done and she did seem to grow a LOT in the month we've had her but when I look up shed frequency it seems like most say it's 4 to 6 weeks between sheds. Baby seems fine all in all...she's eating wonderfully....hasn't pooped since her last mouse but from what you all say that's no biggie to go a bit between poops....passing urates fine....drinking....using her hides....and easy to handle so we aren't worried really just curious about shedding so soon again.

    Re: Shedding Frequency

Shedding frequency pretty much depends on how fast the snake is growing. The faster it grows, the more frequently it sheds. My two have shed anywhere between 3 weeks and 6 weeks so far. If you do not already, it is good to keep a record of sheding events (i.e. eyes blue, eyes clear, finished shed). I plan to see if there is a trend between food intake and shed time with the data I have collected with my two. It is pretty interesting to see what happens as far a trends....I am waiting to get some more data on my two then i might do some cool math stuff with the data...ha...i am a such big nerd

    Re: Shedding Frequency

Mine shed every 4-6 weeks, but I've never heard of any problems with frequent shedding. I guess when you gotta shed ... you gotta shed!

Daniel you are just too funny. I can just picture this big excel spreadsheet! If it makes you feel better I think it'd be cool. Of course I am a self proclaimed nerd freak myself so maybe not such a big help
