Cleaning Routines
Now that Sammy has settled In, I wanted to know how often do i clean out his cage? This is the routine I came up with.
Spot clean his cage whenever Its needed, take out his paper towel bedding every week, and every month I clean the cage down with Zoo Med's Wipe Out disinfectant.
Am I good on the cleaning department?

Use your cleaning product(s) as needed, not just once per month.

I use paper towels and change and disinfect as soon as I see the tank has been "soiled". Ever really smell a spot cleaned cage after a month, I wouldn't want to live like that. But that's just me.

I do a full wipe-out with vinegar after every defecation liquid or solid and the day after feeding.

I do everything on an as needed basis. Clean paper towels when soild, spray tub down if neded. I like to disinfect my tubs and switch them out with tubs that were already disinfected.I find its easy to set up a clean tub switch the snake over then clean the old tub and I'm done.

I feel your pain. I got talked into adopting/rescuing a tortoise about two months ago. The thing is positively the nastiest, smelliest pet I have ever owned. I changed its diet and the smell improved some but I spend more time cleaning up after that thing than all my snakes combined.

I have 3 Testudo Graeca Ibera, and newspaper is your friend with torts. Also I suggest a lukewarm bath - since they almost invariably use it as a toilet and replenishing it after they exit reduces issues.
Oh and yes I am going to breed them when the two youngest are at least 4 more years older (both 3.5 years at the moment).

I use paper towels. I change all the waters daily , it's a small and inexpensive step to replace the paper towels too when needed and give a spray wipe when they have soiled . I use betadine mixed with water , or F10 . The only time I dont spray and clean is if they have merely crumpled the paper towels without soiling, then I just give them fresh and flat paper lol . Because I HATE any kind of bedding mess , in the winter when humidity levels are challenging , I just put a small bowl of spag ( sp?) moss in there .
