    A huge first for me

Today marks my first ever sale of a herp that I produced-- in this case, a baby Gold Dust Day Gecko (P. laticauda). I've been dabbling in gecko breeding since 2009, but I've always had such small numbers that I would either keep the babies myself or rehome them to friends. This was the first time I've ever sold to a stranger. It feels really cool to know that I produced an animal that someone else will be able to enjoy, but it's also somewhat nerve wracking... because you have to hope that the person really does know what they are doing and will do right by the critter. I talked to this lady on and off for a couple days and it seemed like they have all that they need to make a good set up. Turns out it was her son who is into geckos and he was like 10 and paid my himself and was very excited (mom was excited too). I hope the baby does well, and it was nice to be able to hand a new gecko over to a young person-- the start of another hobbyist in herpetoculture, perhaps?

Congrats on the sale Hyp. I hope the critter has a good life and brings lots of joy to the new young keeper. Good job expanding the ranks.

It's a cool feeling. Someday I hope to be able to produce pied ball pythons as well. But that will require a lot more space than what I have now.
