    Herpstat 1 for multiple tubs

I'm sure this is a dumb question but I've been finding inconsistent answers.
I know the Herpstat 1 has 1 temperature probe, and one power outlet, but I've seen people using them on their racks to control multiple cages.
If I was to purchase a Herpstat 1 and had a rack that was (lets just say for the sake of an example) 6 tubs tall, could I use that Herpstat 1 to control the temperature for all of those tubs as long as I did not exceed the max wattage? Or would I need to Herpstat 6 to control all 6 even if they are all intended to be the same temperature. I'm assuming I'd need the 6, because with only 1 temp probe I would only be accurately controlling the temperature of 1 tub, with the other 5 being 'close but no cigar.'

If I am understanding the use of these systems wrong please help me, I intend to have a better rack by the end of this year, and want a thermostat that I can control my temperatures with accurately. If anyone has other systems please don't hesitate to recommend them. If I indeed would need the Herpstat 6 for 6 tubs that would be fine, but I'd love to know that BEFORE I spend 400+ dollars on a thermostat instead of finding out I could have saved money, and gotten the results I wanted. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY, AND ALL ADVICE!!

Re: Herpstat 1 for multiple tubs

I have 2 original herpstats that run 2 RBI cb70 racks (3 tubs each) I use the one probe to control 3 tubs and they're pretty close I'm not sure on 6 tubs though how close or far apart they would be.

You will be fine as long as the watts are under the rated max watts. Just put the probe on the third from the top and you will be fine. Yes you will have a temp difference between tubs and that's normal. They all will not be the same temp. I have a Herp4 and it was running an eight tub rack I built with 6" thg heat tape. The top tubs were warmer than the bottom but that's normal as well no matter what thermostat you will use.

Exactly . You definitely do not need a herp 6 for a rack . I run a herpstat 1 for my rack with 6 tubs and have done so for years with no issues

You could also spend a little extra for the Herpstat 2. I think it has some extra safety features over the Herpstat 1 plus it gives you the option to expand to a second rack in the future.
