snakes and rats in the same room? bad husbandry?
like the title says, would it be bad to keep the rats you breed with the snakes you keep in the same room. i have a spare room that i was going to use for both and just wandering if the sent from the rats would all the time would be bad for the snakes.
thoughts?

I've never had any issues raising feeders and reptiles in the same room.

I do the same thing with snakes, mice, ASF and rats. No problem at all.

With ball pythons it's probably not an issue. Not sure I'd attempt it with my boas, retics, or savus as they all have much stronger food responses.

I used to do it years ago and I only had 2 snake racks and 1 rat rack, never had an issue.

I've got my boa in the same room as my pet rats, which come out during the day for out-time and trot by the front of the enclosure all the time, no problems! No issues getting her out of the enclosure when I do, and no issues with her constantly in food mode or smashing the glass when a rat walks by. 😀
Crawling back into the reptile scene once more!

Maybe they just get used to the smell then. All I know is that when I'm thawing f/t rats and rabbits downstairs in the kitchen, if I go upstairs and into the snake room I see a bunch of "hopeful" boa and retic faces up at the front of their enclosures.

My Boas and sometimes the Carpets smell water heated up rats from a room or two away.
The adults, that is. My Juvie Carpet doesn't notice.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Please excuse the spelling in my posts. Auto-Correct is my worst enema.
