Electronics and such.
So I just got a 36L x 18W x 17H tank (yeah yeah, I know, but I can't break the bank. I'll keep it it stable). I need the heating equipment and such to keep it in order, and was wondering what you guys recommend. Particularly these items:
- An UTH, I would assume a bit smaller than 18" x 18" (I know a few decent brands, like Flukers, ZooMed, and Ultratherm, but I'd like clarification)
- A Thermostat (I know of Hydrofarm, but that's about it)
- A Thermometer and Hygrometer, ideally a unit that does both (I have no clue what brands are good, so I need some help here)
I have about $75 worth of Amazon credit and if at all possible I'd like to use that. I could put some of my own cash in, but I rather not. I'm on a bit of a budget here, so that means no $200+ thermostat units capable of managing 600+ snakes (I'm grossly exaggerating here, but seriously, I'm only getting one snake and it doesn't need to be crazy). I'm on a budget, but I still don't want my tank to be a bad environment for the snake, so if this price range is not possible, please let me know. I'd really appreciate any help you experts out there could give to me
Thanks again

I will leave it up to others to recommend a thermostat. I don't use anything under 100. If you are seriously looking to save money, take the tank back and buy a tub. Buy some pre-wired heat tape. Use left over containers from the kitchen for hides. Buy a water bowl from the dollar store. Use paper towel for substrate. This is how I keep my entire collection.

Herpstat for a thermostat imo although VE is also popular these days and well reviewed. I used to use the zoomed uth's before I went to tubs.

If you can return the tank - some places won't take them back - use one of these instead:

Same floor space, secure lid, no fighting to keep humidity up, and under $20.

I appreciate it, but I got the tank off craigslist - there will be no returning it
I would have liked a tub, but my mother said she's not letting keep a snake in a tub .

I liked the zoomed, and they seem easy to get. Would you recommend a size with my dimensions?
