What is the smallest kind of adult snake that can eat a jumbo rat?

I'm looking for a 'pet' snake to add to my breeding project. Right now I have king snake and ball pythons, but as far as I know neither one can handle a jumbo rat as an adult, need something that will eat my old breeders as I replace them. I'm looking for some kind of snake that can eat a jumbo rat, one that has a great appetite and one that doesn't get as big as my couch LOL. I think reticulated pythons are a bit too big for me, need something I can handle by myself. Maybe a boa? Blood python? ???

A female BCI (not a dwarf locality) can eat a jumbo rat every 4-6 weeks. A male SD retic can take one every 10-14 days.

Would a borneo just do larges, then? Since they're just a bit smaller than an actual blood?

I don't like the bad attitude that most blood pythons have. Would love to try a dwarf retic!!

blood, borneo, bci, coastal carpet females, diamond female. and then there's sumatran short tails. probably a lot of folks would say they don't get that big. they certainly don't get as large as bloods and borneos, but i feed mine jumbos. they take them with no problem. just remember these are pretty low metabolism (aka lazy) snakes, a jumbo will do them just fine every 3-4 weeks.

Dwarf retics don't exactly have the best reputation for temperament either. Mine's got quite the 'tude when he wants to be a doo-doo head.

Ha! You know when i'm trying to figure out the next snake, and i want it to be medium big, my default is BI/BC, but then i see some insanely nice looking SD and think, "Well how much more maintenance could it really be?" Thanks for the reality check!

Yeah just remember what goes in does come out. With that higher metabolism for retics more goes in... and more comes out...
