    Male BP opening vent?

My 670g 1 1/2 year old male lesser is like half opening his vent when exploring outside of his cage. Like, he opens it but nothing comes out and it is a little red. I do usually have him and my 1600g female butter out together but they are caged separately and he shows no interest in her. He did pee yesterday when he was out but nothing today and nothing before that.
Edit: I just checked again and one hemipene was about half out but he still shows no interest in my female and is, in fact, going the opposite direction she is in

    Re: Male BP opening vent?

My first assumption was that he wanted to mate, but he completely ignores her or actively goes the opposite direction so I'm a bit worried there may be something wrong with him

I've had him about a month and a half and before that he belonged to my uncle who had him about six months. My uncle got him from a petco that told said he was a little under a year old so I don't know his age for sure

I have never seen this happen. I've had females exhibit this type of behaviour. Squirting and tail thumping. If you were going to breed them you can always toss them together and see what happens. Keep in mind she may not be receptive right now and he knows that. Are you sure its a hemipene?

I am thinking that it could be a possibility even though it is that small. That's why I asked about how sure the OP is about the hemipene

I don't want to breed them yet, maybe next year but not yet so I'd rather not do that. I am 90% sure it was a hemipene. He was probed as male so I'm confident that he is in fact a male. He doesn't squirt or thump his tail, he doesn't even lift it when he does this
If I pick him up he immediately closes up so I'm sure it's not prolapsing

Interesting. Try to get a pic of it next time. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I have him out without my female right now and he hasn't done it yet. I think I might just be paranoid

He started doing it again even though he was out alone. I tried to get a pic but he sucked it back in too fast
