Bp didn't eat live rat pup. What do I do with it?

Hey everybody. I asked for a weaned rat pup but once I got home I realized there's no way this thing is weaned, it's eyes aren't open yet. I put it in with my picky BP and then had to go to work, so I left it in there. 5 hours later it's still not eaten.

Should I leave it overnight? Should I kill it? Can I feed it kitten milk or something?! This new BP still hasn't eaten for me in over a month and I'm getting overwhelmed.

Sounds like a pup. Kitten milk will keep in alive from a dropper. Don't force it through the plunger let it suckle. Try again in 48-72 hours. The pup will need fed every 4-8 hours to stay alive. Good luck!

the wise ones will say you should never leave live prey in with your snake for fear of they prey biting your snake, they will also say not to stress about your snake not eating as they go thru stages of not eating..

just make sure your husbandry is on point and when the little fella is ready to eat, he will..

now as far as the live prey you got, you should probably kill it and freeze it, maybe you can get your "picky BP" to eat it later on when he gets more on a eating regiment..

i am pretty new myself, but every thing i have read is pretty much this. someone else i am sure that is much wiser then i will chime in and maybe give you some more ideas.

    HTH!

Nevermind. I put it in with my lucy I got 2 days ago and she ate it up. Yay!

And mike, I would never ever leave an adult rat in with them, I just figured this guy couldn't hurt him because he barely crawls and his eyes aren't open yet! I'll be staying away from pups from now on though.
