what size tub is that? 28quarts? IMO he can double in size and be fine in that tub. he'll just need the appropriate size hide.
if u get rid of the decorations and just have a water dish, maybe a hide, and put the tub in a rack, he'll be fine there for the rest of his life.

Thanks for the input and it's a 64L Rub (really useful box) so if he can potentially live in there for his life what size would a female need? Would make it so much easier because having 3 ft vivs is much more consuming of space than tub setups
