White Powdery Stuff and Very Small Bug

    Hi everyone,

I fed my snake live rat 4 days ago. Today I saw two white powdery stuffs when cleaning the cage. As I picked one of them up it cracked open, and there is this really really small ant like creature came out. So does that mean my bedding has bugs or my snake has parasites?

    Thank you very much

I agree that it's probably urate but look up some pictures to make sure. I'm blind too because I can't see the pic to well.

That is most definitely urates (snakes discrete that as waste in lieu of urine or along with) I would not touch it in the future...dispose in a sanitary way. Since you noticed a bug I would be inclined to take a fecal sample to a vet to check for parasites.

as others have mentioned, those white stone and powdery stuff is urates. the bug could've come from anywhere. it could be a parasite from inside your snake, it could be an external parasite like a mite. it could've been a helpful springtail or isopod that feeds on waste and decaying plant matter inside animal enclosures. keep an eye on your BP and it's waterbowl for bugs. IMO i would clean your tank and replace the greying substrate if u are really concerned.
