Heat pad with vision cages? (quick question)

I'm wondering if ultratherm heat pads work with Vision cages alone/does the heat penetrate the bottom? Or would I need to add a RHP? http://www.lllreptile.com/catalog/37...cages-and-tubs

You most likely will need another heat source unless the area the snake will be kept is about 80°

I have vision and there only 1/4 inch thick which is thinner then a t8 and people use them with heat tape and mats all the time. You dont need heat mat, just get an rhp, that's what I use for my visions. You can hang the rhp from the top on hot side and heat will radiate over to cool side to give you your gradient. What vision model is it?

Oh neat! Does Vision also sell dividers, like T8's do?

I'm not sure on the model, but here's a photo- they are listed for sale on my local craigslist for $100 each, and I thought I might nab one... assuming the reptiles previously kept in them weren't sick or anything. :s

Unfortunately vision doesn't sell dividers but you should be able to buy some PVC and cut a piece to fit. I love vision cages there just pricy. I've bought a v211 for $40 and a v221 for $60 and I bought one from lllreptile v400 for $400 including shipping. I would own all vision cages if the price didn't scare me lol but I would pick those up in a heartbeat! What are the dimensions do you know? Also what are your low and average temps of where they will be used? Just want to get an idea of what size rhp you might need. I'm no rhp expert but with all the info I have received from pro products and reptile basics I can give you a general idea. I absolutely love rhps so I recommend using one as your only heat source unless your temps get extremely low but a bigger rhp could fix that.

Actually I just looked at the ad. I'm 99% sure they are the same as the v221 I just picked up. Dimensions should be 28x22x12. They cost $200 new plus shipping. A 40w rhp is what pro products told me would give me a good gradient with a room that is 65-75 degrees. But if your making a divider you would need a smaller rhp. I just ordered a reptile basics 40w for the same cage bc it was cheaper. If that is the same cage with the temps I mentioned above the 40w will work for you if your using for bp. As far as the sick animals being in them before just use dish soap rinse and let dry then ammonia rinse and let dry and f10 before putting herp inside. I was just recommend that procedure on a different thread. Also I noticed they had a bow in the top from being stacked, so did mine and what I did was put the cage upside down hanging on the edge of 2 chairs and put full paint cans in and it evened it back out. Lol if I wasn't on the other side of the country I would offer a deal for them all.
