    Grumpy Balls

My female has ALWAYS been a monster feeder with the most beautiful aggressive feeding response and most flawless headshot strike of all time.

But I get ahead of myself and with that she's developed this food aggression (I kid you not she'd eat every 12 hours if I let her) which means every time my hand is in the tank she's been coming in hot, full on kill mode. Which is unnerving if you've never been tagged...

HOWEVER - Just thought I'd share a little tip for any of y'all in the same boat, a tip I remember years ago that Justin Kobylka (sp?) (not sure if he's still on here) gave me.

Dominate your aggressive ball pythons, as most of you know they're incredibly head shy, they loathe it. Today I reached in and remembered this little nugget of info so I stuck 2 fingers right on top of her head until she got submissive and workable again. After that the aggression was GONE and I held her a good 10-15 minutes. Now there's a chance of getting bit doing this, don't be brutal they don't need much for this head touch maneuver and you may jump a little because they'll jerk back fast and hard but do it a few times and watch the behavior change.

Just thought I'd throw this up here! 😀

ive had a few babies that came in hot. struck at me and everything that moved. yeah u kinda have to show them who's boss? let me know that striking or hissing will not get u to go away. i always held them until they relaxed and knew i was not dangerous. after these TLC sessions, i could pick them up without getting love bites.

a few are still nervous nellies tho but no longer strike.
    RIP Mamba
