    Re: rack system and rubbermaids

What is that in inches...ha? I use 33" x 16" x 6" and that should work for adults.

the only problem I see with that tub is that the top is not smooth...the recessed spot by the handle will make it easy to escape. i think animal plastics has tubs online (i think www.animalplastics.com) if not they have some nice racks and setups to look at

Here is a pic of my four tub rack for an idea. It is just a really simple setup. All my heating stuff came from mgreptiles. Pretty easy to build. took 8-6'x1" x4" boards and a sheet of peg board. the rack itself cost me about $80 including the tubs. the heating stuff cost me around $200. here is the pic:

I hope that helps a bit. let me know if you have any questions. it is not the prettiest setup in the world but it works good for me.

try target for 41 qt sterilite tubs, they are approx. 34x17x6. office max/office depot sells iris cb-70 tubs they are about the same size. on kingsnake.com under classifieds in their caging/supplies section you can find a dealer called "reptile tubs" i think, they sell all kinds of tubs. online you can go to "the container store" and order tubs also. i prefer proportional thermostats like "helix" in a rack setup.

    Re: rack system and rubbermaids

daniel1983 you have do nice work but animalplastic doesn't shipping to my country!
do you know where can buy the tups from european website? i also doesn't find anythink in kingsnake.com
onother question is where did you puth the sensor of the thermostat? i know that all themostats has 1 sensor. you put in one of the tups?
if i put the tub that i was bought i will put it fixed in the upper wood so the snake can't escape. the dimmesions of my tup is the same as urs.
how many roll of flexwatt did you use?

    Re: rack system and rubbermaids

if you are going to use a proportional thermostat, tape the probe directly to the flexwatt. how many feet depends on how you run the flexwatt and how big the rack is. most people use belly heat and the flexwatt is routered through like a zig-zag on each shelf. go to www.boaphileplastics.com they have a good description of well built racks to look at. if your in europe,
www.kingsnake.com has a european link as well. look near the top it will give you links to kingsnake europe and kingsnake canada in blue letters. you have to click on all the sub-forum links to get to classifieds, forums, carsheets, etc. hope this helps!

    Re: rack system and rubbermaids

Ya, if you make the rack so that the snake can not escape those tubs would work great. I am sure it can be done. I have one foot of 11" flexwatt on each tub. they are run with a ranco thermostat. The probe is placed on the inside bottom of the second tub from the bottom. I prefer this way but alot of other people just put the probe directly on the flexwatt and adjust the thermostat temperature to get the correct temperature in the enclosure. Hope that helps a bit.

Building a rack is not as complicated as some would think. I built that simple setup with a hand saw and a battery drill. It may not be the prettiest or the best, but it suits me just fine and works great.

I dont know how your country is. But if pegboard is rare or really expensive(not that cheap here either) just buy some 1/4'' plywood and drill some holes...or seal the top completely and put some holes in the tubs. Also when you are putting the rack together, leave about 5 -7 mm of space between the top of the tub and the wood above. The rack will settle, so if you do not leave this space everything will get very stiff and the tubs may not pull out as easy.

If you have any more questions just ask....I like to help when I can

    Re: rack system and rubbermaids

    okay.
so i will buy 11" FLEXWATT 20 WATTS 1-49 food
i must buy for every tub the wires. so if i build 4 racks i will buy the flexwatt and 4 CRIMPED
    CONNECTION (http://www.mgreptiles.com/flexwatt.html)
note:it's not neseccasry to buy the pairs of the wire to build it right? just only the crimped connection that mgreptiles build. and how big is the crimped connection? when i buy the flexwatt roll i can cut it in neseccary dimmensions?

    Re: rack system and rubbermaids

if you tell matt that you want 4- 1 foot sections of 11" flexwatt w/ crimped connections on each section, then you should be set to go.
